John Lennon and Alejandro Escovedo shared the 1st annual Star Wars Stormtrooper Award which goes to the lowest-ranked seeds to make the Sweet 16. John Lennon made it with wins over the 5-Foo Fighters and 13-Johnny Cash. The Alejandro Escovedo Hepatitus C's have beat the 5-Ziggy Marley and the 13-Ramones. These guys may not even be done yet! All I can say is, Who would thunk?
In other news, 2-Beck picked up his first Princess Lea Award for most embarrassing loss in Star Wars, when he lost to the Black Crowes in Rnd 2 and disappointed almost the whole world, including the Pope. They were being counted on to give the 1-Flaming Lips some heat in advancing up the brackets. In round 1, Beck did win, but it took a last second shot to beat 15-Hugo Montenegro. Geez. If Beck doesn't want to be serious about success, maybe he shouldn't try to be in this Star Wars stuff.

weekend predictions....
dandies seem to have an ax to grind...they exposed the daniel johnsons for the over-medicated, bi-polar, self-absorbed, weak-shooting team that they really are..big disappointment here...i would like to see the dbt take them out ...but don't count on it...dandies in a laugher...regina spector looked strong against an aging rock legend...lennon...we know you are the walrus....but did you have to play like one? spector has to shut down red hots out-side shooting...and for god sakes...watch the inside curl...we all see it coming...get a body on the cutter..yeeschhh...regina will have to get past the idea of guarding naked players...but i see her moving on...we all love the clash...but no doubt about it..playing with two dead guys as your power forward and center really hurts in the rebound category...lips dispense with the clash...they will be left all alone in the supermarket..they no longer can shop happily....best game of the weekend should be stripes and mule...the mule has a great coach and i havent seen the stripes pushed to limits yet...even though this will kill plenty of brackets around the world...including mine....i am calling for the slight upset with the gov't mule hitting a last second shot to take them to the promise land...
